Initially I completed my undergraduate degree in Sociology and Human Development. After several years working in the corporate sector I returned to university to study education. Following this I continued studying and working as a beginning teacher [BT] through the Manaiakalani Education Trust where in 2015 I graduated the from the first cohort of the Manaiakalani Digital Teacher Academy [MDTA] earning myself a Certificate in Digital Excellence [CODE].
During this time I also completed my Bachelor of Education with Honours through the University of Auckland. As part of this qualification I studied the development of self-regulation in young learners alongside the use of co-constructed rubrics.
This study along with my other qualifications is what grounds my teaching practice where learners are challenged to think critically, apply new knowledge in a range of settings, and become lifelong learners.

Using Google tools in the classroom enables me to redefine the learning process and challenge learners in ways never thought possible in a traditional classroom setting.
This blog shares some of my teaching highlights, reflections and insights, as well as tips for constructing a successful digital learning environment.
